Why SCIM for C and UIM for JK?

SCIM is good at C and UIM is good at J. For K, we need somebody's opinion.

Why disable the original Input Method?

a) The project didn't want to depend on proprietary software.
b) It makes the whole story much simpler if HIM is disabled for UIM.
